Am I allowed to be unhappy?
Hello you out there,
Im a Student, aged 22, in the 5th semester of plastics engineering.
Some time ago i thought about, when i was last really happy- i couldn't remember.
"Study what you want, what you like to do"- they say "To achieve a good life, to be successful, get really good at something"...
I wasn't happy a long time, but am i even allowed to be unhappy? I've got everything in the book to do what i want, a more or less caring family, enough money provided to study without the need to work aside, good health. The thin is, i don't want to learn what i should learn it doesn't make me happy to be allowed to learn, i don't even know what i should get really good at, what i want to get really good at. But i keep saying myself, you have no excuse to be unhappy with what you got, you are just a lazy unthankful ****...
although its confusing what I'm writing, i hope you can understand what I'm trying to ask.

Michael I give you permission to be unhappy.
I think you have worked and worked and worked. That's years of studying. Where's the fun stuff? the joy? Don't be so hard on yourself. If your course of study isn't right for you, then you need to do other stuff in your life to find out what does give your joy and satisfaction. You don't know what you want to be good at yet - your real job is to find out what that is going to be.
good luck

Maybe you're so unhappy and dispassionate because other than time, you don't have anything invested in your own happiness...you have nothing to lose if things don't work out, and nothing at stake. Find out what you're passionate about, feel those endorphins kick in, and see if your personal landscape doesn't change significantly. Good luck.
