Mitsubishi V6 engine part name needed?

Looking from the front of the car it is an electronic device behind the right side cam shaft gear near the bottom of the gear and held in by two 10mm bolts. I think it is used to trigger the ignition coils. If anyone can tell me what to call it beyond a 'thing' it would help me heaps.

Also is the same 'thing' common for all the V6 engines, mine is a NJ 1997 Pagero?

    Sounds like a "Cam Position Sensor" to me.
