Tips on choosing a third guitar? Looking for a brighter sound.?
I currently own a crummy Esteban acoustic as it was given to me. Then after half a year i purchased an Epiphone G-400 as my first electric with a Fender Mustang I amp.
Now after nearly 2 years i think its time to get my second guitar.
I mainly play music from bands such as Nirvana, 311, Sublime, Foo Fighters, The Police, and RHCP. I also like to play songs from Juanes who is a colombian rocker. With my epiphone SG is kinda hard to enjoy playing it with a heavy sounding guitar. However with my Epiphone i love shreading to Rammstein or System of a down. :)
So pretty much ive been looking for a brighter sounding guitar. with a range from $300-500
I was thinking a new Mexican Fender Strat for $499. Would you suggest this? I tried the fender strat and tele at the store and liked the strat better even though id to have love both.

Hello there,
The Fender Standard Stratocaster MIM is a very good guitar. That model has an alder body with either a maple or rosewood fretboard. The maple fretboard is slightly brighter in tone (subtle difference). Try both to see which you prefer. Also, try a Fender Stratocaster with an swamp ash body. Swamp ash is brighter than alder. I cannot think of an inexpensive model in current production with a swamp ash body. As the shop if they have a Stratocaster with a swamp ash body. Just so you can hear the difference.

What's your funds? When I made up our minds just a few years ago to add a P-ninety guitar to my assortment, I went with a Gibson (no longer Epiphone) Les Paul Jr. That is been a nice guitar, peculiarly for the Rolling Stones sort stuff i've been enjoying. If you're watching to exchange pickups in a less high priced guitar, then i would endorse Seymour Duncan Phat Cats. They may be a P-ninety pickup in a standard humbucker bundle. You would additionally seem at humbuckers that allow you to do coil splitting (with a further swap). Any humbucker with 4 conductor wiring can do that.
