There is a god. The Lord Jesus Christ. It's not that simple. Think about it this way. God is offering a free gift to you ( salvation/heaven). U can choose to or not to take it (be saved or not to be saved. Unless u believe in predestination but that's a topic for another day. Anyway, if u don't take it, u are choosing the alternative (burning in hell). Much like a person offering u a gift. U can choose to or not to take it. If u don't take it u are choosing the alternative ( living without the gift). It's counterpart would be living without the gift of salvation and not living for Christ which consequently takes u to hell. That's just a rough example/explanation. Ask someone to take u to church or go on your own. It'll help your understanding.
