Doesn't this analogy describes the political debate on the economy pretty well ?

President Obama was dealt a bad hand. Through his skill and his choices, he got himself a two of a kind, a winning hand, to beat all other players. Republicans come along and say to the President, "You should have a royal flush instead of two of a kind. You had four rounds to do better." They say that ignoring the fact if the President had made the choices that the Republicans insisted on there would be a losing hand, instead of a winning one.

actually, it's more like getting a straight... Obama has had some very solid growth from where we've been...

but yes, cons are asking for a royal flush...

I like the story of "The Stone Soup" better. The people have nothing to eat and are starving. Obama says, "Let's make some stone soup." He gets a pot and throws a rock in the bottom and some water and puts it on to boil. His friend Nancy P. says that's a great idea and says, "I have a Chinese friend who will lend us some money." She gets the money and buys some rotten potatoes and rotten carrots and throws them into the pot, saying, "this is my stimulus to the soup project". A Republican friend says, "Yes, and I can add some cheap oil", but Obama and Nancy P. say "no, that would not be a good idea." And they refuse to allow the cheap oil. Then Obama and Nancy P. say to the Republican, "Go to your rich friends and bring us back a side of beef and some caviar to add to the soup." And the Republican friend says, "No, that would just ruin everything."

So now we have some soup that is made of some borrowed rotten potatoes and carrots, combined with Obama's non-contribution which is the stone, and now what?

Bang on. Except the Republicans are the ones that dealt the first hand.
