Removing Latex paint from house outlet covers?
Got some free help to paint the interior of my house and they did not remove or mask the outlet covers. Worse, they painted over the outlet plugs in the wall as well. I am to choose between buying about thirty new covers & 20 outlets, or using something to remove the layer of paint from hard plastic.

You can use any paint remover on the plates, even GOO Gone or Goof Off - the problem is the plugs. Anything you use may well damage the contacts or whatever those things are called. Plates easy. Would not mess with the receptacle. What is wrong with your outlets matching and disappearing into your wall? I always paint my plates to match although I have never painted the receptacle.

Latex paint will usually peel easily off the outlets -- get some of those plastic dish scrubbees (the ones for scouring crud off pots and pans) and use them to rub the paint off the outlets. For the covers, they only cost about 25 cents each at the hardware store -- just buy new ones as it is not worth the trouble of cleaning them off.

Try Semi-Paste paint remover on one cover, first.
