Does anyone know why many car manufacturers saying in the manuals that "when you direct the airflow to down position and there will be a small amount of air going out up to the windshield" is normal? I found this to be a defect as it makes my face and head hot. I like to warm my feet in winter. I had 2 cars and both of them have same issue, but manufacturers saying "normal". I asked my friends and their car manuals also saying that.
Thanks for answering. My cars are Nissan Altima 2007, and Honda Accord 2010. Altima blows the most air to the windshield that makes me hot. I also read reviews about this car and many also saying about this. My friends cars are Hyundai Sonata. Both Accord and Sonata also have air up to windshield but don't make my face hot as much as altima. I also agree with you that we need air to clear the windshield but this little air doesn't really do the job, we have a seperate option to do this. So this "normal" is really not neccessary.

YOu may have a sticking fflap in your HEATER system. It is NORMAL fopr a small amount of HOT air to continue to heat your windshield when you select the DOWN button. If TOO much air is going up there, then check your VACUUM system for flap shutting. WHAT KIND OF CAR IS THIS anywyas??? it MATTERS! IF air flowis ENTIRELY shut off to the windshield, it will fog up as you breath, so it is normal for a very SMALL amount of hot air to keep going there. GOOD LUCK!!!
