Grand Canyon Tours from Las Vegas?
As I would like to see the Grand Canyon when I travel to Las Vegas, could anyone please tell me which tour to book - the South Rim or the West Rim?
Which is more spectacular?

Take the advice of a guy who has spent more time hiking the Inner Canyon than all of the other ppl who answered your Q have spent looking into it from the Rims
Don't go to the newly named " West Rim " because you will not see the real and classic Grand Canyon
Look at it this way
About 100 years or so ago the AT & SF RR wanted to create a tourist destination at the Grand Canyon that would be easily accessible from their legendary Southwest Chief train
So they got together with Fred Harvey the hotelier and Mary Jane Colter the architect and selected a spot on the S.Rim ( 86023 ) that overlooks what they regarded as the best of Grand Canyon
The rail-line from Williams to the S.Rim crosses flat and level terrain But then again so would any point from Williams and west to Kingman -which is where the connection to the " West Rim " could have been
But the AT & SF RR didn't choose that option did they ?
No
They chose 86023 because in fact it IS the classic and best place to view the Canyon from

The South Rim does offer the best views of the Grand Canyon. That is the National Park, where the vast, colorful iconic views can be found. However, if you choose to get there by bus or car, it will take you about 5 hours each way to get there and back. That's why most will recommend that you stay overnight there for the best quality experience. Either that or sacrifice experiencing the South Rim and go to the less scenic but closer West Rim (or Grand Canyon West as it's formally known), which is a Native American Tribal Park. If a) you still want to go to the South Rim and b) you only have 1 day in which to experience it, you might consider a fixed-wing airplane/ground combination tour. This will be more expensive than a bus tour or self-drive, but you can see the main highlights of the park in 8-9 hours hotel to hotel. Tours such as these are offered by Scenic/Grand Canyon Airlines (a subsidiary of Papillon), Maverick Airlines and Vision Holidays.

I personally reccomend the South Rim, the West Rim is in an Indian Reservation and doesn't contain the picturesque scenes you typically see in movies.
Pick up a Las Vegas tour book when you get here, available in most hotels and a few of the malls, there will be discounted coupons and tons of listings for tours there,
You can view a online version of it here:

They are both beautiful but the West Rim is the more 'classical' in that it is what the brochure photos show you and most of the popular photos you see everywhere about Grand Canyon.

there's all kinds of tours of the canyon. We took a trip down the colorado river on a raft thru the canyon last year. Was awesome. Bucket list awesome. Ran the rapids, took side tours, shore lunch, you can see it from the air, bus, raft, or hike. Search it up at vegas.com. It all depends on your time and money. lots of options
