What music genres do you find are difficult to distinguish between?

This is a tough one for me since I just started learning about all the sub-genres at the beginning of the year. I am still confused about a lot of them, especially the core groups, what distinguishes them from other sub genres in the same genres. And you're right the stoner rock, stoner metal are a tough one as is the doom metal/rock gets me too. And how do you know if it isn't just heavy metal and it shouldn't go into another sub-genre. OMFG, makes my brain bleed!!

I'd say gothic metal and symphonic metal. There are many similarities

BQ2: Swedish Death Metal. I don't care for black metal

BQ3: Resign to Surrender (A New Age Dawns - Part IV) - Epica

Death metal and brutal death metal

BQ: Stockholm death metal

BQ2: Swedish death metal

BQ3: IS Ray Storm - Go-Zen

Death metal and Grindcore. Usually I can tell based on how long the songs are.

Bq. Gothenburg! I love Slaughter of the soul.

i would agree, the stoner genre has a lot of leeway, maybe to much. i think also that there are a few that people aren't sure what a band fall under and just tag it as stoner. BQ gothenberg. BQ 2 norwegian. BQ 3 nothing yet, haven't been up that long,lol.

Metalcore,Deathcore and Post - hardcore. Also, Indie Rock and Pop Rock.

I think a lot of the genres just merge together in the end.
