How do I record for more than 8 seconds with my Canon Rebel T2i?

Question

I have an 8 GB card and the camera says I have 22+ minutes of video recording left but it automatically stops recording after 8 seconds. Is there another setting I need to change. I looked at the manual and tried Utube with no success. Please help

My wife bought a SDHC 4 card. So I guess I need a SDHC 10 card rating?

1) are you using a class 10 SDHC card?
2) is it empty and formatted in the camera?

If you still have problems then the card is probably not from a better manufacturer.

Yeah, you need a class 10. Whats happening is that your camera is sending info to the SDHC card faster than the card can record it, so everything just stops.

Stan is correct.  I use 8gb / Class 10 cards and they're perfect for my t1i.  By the way, if you need to replace the card you're using be sure to format it in the camera first (emphasis on "in the camera")
