I have to write the first four books of The Odyssey from Aegisthus's point of view..?
I'm in college and in my reading class I have to write a sort of summary about the first four books from my character's POV. Out of the names in the bowl, I got Aegisthus. He's the one who stole Agamemnon's wife while Agamemnon was gone to war, and then killed him when he got back. Then Agamemnon's son killed both Aegisthus and the wife to avenge his dad, yadda yadda. My question is, how do I write this? Aegisthus is clearly down in Hades.. So do I just pretend I'm like Aegisthus chillin' down being dead and all, and magically seeing what's happening up where everyone else is? Is there some specific way that dead people down in Hades can see what's going on with the living?

I don't believe there was a way that the dead in Hades could see the mortal world. I'm going to assume that when they died and traveled to Hades, their link to the mortal world was severed. So I think that for you to overcome this little hurdle, you'll have to be creative. And I have a suggestion. Let's say that down in Hades there is this "crystal ball" (unless you can think of something better) that allows events unfolding in the mortal world to be watched in the underworld. To the gods watching from Mount Olympus, I imagine that life in the mortal world often played out like a soap opera for them, and with Hades down in Hades, this "crystal ball" served as a sort of TV for Hades and Persephone to get some entertainment out of poor, hapless mortals. Some of the dead can also look/watch this "crystal ball", but not for entertainment purposes. A kind punishment, if you will, so that the dead can see what all they're missing out on.
So, hopefully that will take care of the issue of HOW Aegisthus is able to see things in the mortal world from Hades.
The rest of it should be relatively easy. The first four books of the Odyssey are what is called the Telemachy--the story of Telemachus, Odysseus' son, and his search to discover news of his missing father. Watch him as he tries to assert himself as man of the house in Book 2 by insisting that the suitors leave. Follow him as he leaves his house to visit with Menelaus of Sparta and Nestor of Pylos to learn anything he can of Odysseus. Talk about his transition from just a boy in the beginning of the books to manhood by the end of Book 4. And don't forget the suitors plot to kill Telemachus.

Ageithus has leadership skills. So far he has used these skills to outwit the boys in Hades. They are convinced that he is telling the truth about Agamemnon., and that his service in Hades is a disservice to the land of many hot fires. He talks the men of horns in heat into giving him a pardon and all the tricks he can stick up both sleeves
