How is an atheist answering with "God doesn't exist"....?
any more helpful than a christian quoting scripture? What is the point of answering a legitimate question if you aren't really saying anything? I realize there are trolls all over this section, and those deserve stupid answers, but if there is an actual question, why not either try to actually answer it, or move on? And why, when a question is solely directed at one side of the coin, does the other side feel the need to answer with nonsense?

Because they are very insecure in the realization that their lack of belief is just as much faith based as a theist's belief. Therefore they have to keep proclaiming it over and over and over again.
Some people do post honest inquiries and questions that have to do with their beliefs. They deserve a more polite response than "It is all a lie so wise up, reject your stupid sky daddy and get a life because you have no proof".
@Samwise: You make a valid point.

I'm with you on this Ava I wouldn't know exactly why but I would make something up that sounds perfectly feasible, we must have a good go at this game to make it more interesting, regardless of who is right from who is wrong. It's not all black and white things have shadows that lurk they are deceptions, agendas and great misunderstandings.

Perhaps to avoid this happening to your legitimate questions you could add a qualifier to them like "if god exists" or "purely hypothetical"

Because saying "god doesn't exist" is the verifiable truth.
I no more "hate" or "fear" something that is as imaginary as a leprechaun or a pixie, or an intelligent creationist, none of them exist in real life.

I usually leave honest questions alone, unless it really seems harmful to just rely on faith only in that situation.
Otherwise, I post on questions that say "ABSOLUTELY NO ATHEISTS OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?" at the end. Because now they're practically begging me to post nonsense and clog up their inbox.

if somebody says "god exists" without any sort of scientific explanation of evidence, they might as well have not said anything at all
