Toothache in Pregnancy. Is it really the tooth?
Hey there!
Im currently 19 weeks 2 days pregnant and I got a horrible toothache whenever I am lying down and ONLY when i am lying down ( about 15 mins after). When I get up it takes about 5 mins for the pain to go away. I've been having this toothache for several weeks now, but it always got to a point where I was able to fall asleep, 'till now. I've tried to put my head on a few pillows so it is higher than the rest of my body. I tried Tylenol and whole cloves, but nothing seems to help.
I read up on that it might be the trigeminall, so i am not sure if i should go to see a dentist or not or if i should just go to my doc and ask for some antibiotics that are safe to use during pregnancy to get rid of a (possible) infection and hopefully the pain.
I am currently without health insurance, so any tips would be helpful. ( and yes i know the doctor is the only one in the end that can help)
But which one to go to?
TIA

As a person who has had way too many cavities and a few root canals. This is most likely a cavity. I would have the exact same thing happen, when I would lay on my face my tooth/jaw started to hurt but when I got up it would go away. Your sounds like a big cavity, that could possibly lead to and infection which mean you need to get a root canal that will cost $1,000, or a cavity which will cost about $150.
They will give penicillin with and a pill with codine. You probably can't take Vicodin while pregnant.
Usually if you have a cavity cold things will hurt that tooth. So get some really cold water and hold it in your mouth when the water first enters your mouth you should feel it.
