Can humans and horses really bond?

I've always loved horses, but just taken lessons at a local stable, the horses there are handled by a lot of different people so i never felt much connection with the individual horses. But if you actually own your own horse and takes care of him well, does your horse then bond with you? say, like humans and dogs can bond?

There are some humans who can bond with horses and there are some humans who will never be able to bond with any horse. It is all about understanding horses and how they communicate and learn. As a human, you have to know how to work with a horse within his ability to understand. You have to understand his nature and know how to use it to secure a relationship that is built on trust and respect. There must also be consistency and repetition to reinforce the bond. Bonding with a horse has nothing to do with praise and lunging and treats. All that will get you is nowhere with a horse. A belief that such things are positive and useful just verifies the lack of true knowledge of the horse and his nature.

Bonding with a horse is nothing like bonding with a dog. You are talking predator and prey animals and they are completely diverse in how they relate to humans.

They can do! If the owners earn the horse;s trust. To do that they need to establish a routine - horse;s prefer a routine where they know when and what is coming up next - eg catch at 8 am from the field, feed at 8.15, followed by rug change if wearing, grooming, exercise etc.

You need to be fair but firm and above all consistent - if a horse displays a bad behaviour, say nipping then it should not be fed by hand, ever, and reprimanded whenever it is shown, not just sometimes.

It takes time but if you spend time with the horse and observe its likes and dislikes and take them down and act upon them.

Some horses can bond with you because you feed them but others need way more than that to bond with you.

You should go out & groom him/her & rub on them. Exercise them & teach them respect bla bla bla. BUT after you do that then just sit outside with them. My horse will start grooming me once I sit down on the ground. It took her awhile to do it. They have to have a bond with you enough to groom you.

Also you will see horses that stand face to face with each other out in a pasture all relaxed "sharing air". That is true love, bonding, trust, etc.

Remember horses are herd animals. So the more you spend time with them the more you are apart of the herd. And you do not have to always ride them or groom them to spend time together. Just being there relaxed is enough for them.

    Of course. :)

I don't have a horse but my bff does and its so amazing to see videos of Cisco following April around the pasture or her riding him around bareback. <3

And when I went to camp, the horses there were handled by quite a few people yet just standing with Rocko for a few minutes we had one of those bonding moments. ;)

I have a verry strong bond with my horse:) just spend lots of time with him. Free lounge him and when your ready take off the pressure and turn in and he will come to you. If he dosent kept driving him around the pen. You'll start to have a real connection with him and he will trust you more. Good luck

confident, I had something comparable take place. i substitute into driving at a coach and leaving the hoop after training over fences. Out of no the place, the pony bolted, like from sluggish walk to comprehensive gallop in decrease than a stride. i substitute into dragged for somewhat. fortunately it substitute right into a barn coach, which decreased the embarrassment and extra advantageous the help. once I left the hoop, all i had to renowned substitute into why she spooked. All i had to do substitute into come back on her and artwork the potential out of her, which i did no longer do, because of the fact I injury throughout. I wasn't mad at her or scared or something. I even went to my lesson the subsequent week. i admire that horse like a sister, nonetheless. i think of each horse individual is insane, in many situations.
