what kind of cat should I get?
right now I own a blue seal lynx point(is that what they're called?)

He's very affectionate and extremely intelligent, and i'm going to get my own place soon... he gets bored and wants to go out often. However, i'll be getting an apartment and he wont be able to go outside. I was thinking about getting a kitten so he could have a play companion. Is there any specific breed of cat that might get along better with him? I really would hate it if they fought :(
My mom thinks I should just get another cat like him.

I don't think you should base your choice on breed. Go to an animal shelter where you can spend some time with the kitten before you adopt, try to get a feel for its personality. You want to find a kitty whose personality and disposition match up with that of the kitty you already have. If he's older and more calm, I would suggest an older, calmer companion for him. If he's young and active, find a companion who can keep up with him.

Breeds won't do anything, it's more about the cat's personality.
You should indeed get a kitten, because they accomodate faster.
I suggest you adopt a kitten from the SPCA or another shelter, because as I said, breed doesn't matter, it's the cat's personality that matters, and plus, you would save a life! :)
