Can i leave a 1 year old cat that i've had for 2 months at home for a weekend?

I dont actually have a one year old cat that i need to leave at home, but I've been trying to get my parents to let me adopt a semi-adult cat because kittens are hard to care for and my other cat is very old and grumpy. My parents are saying no because we travel too much. I was thinking if we got the cat in early september, the only trip we would have for a while is a weekend long camping trip in november. Would it be okay to leave the cat with a neighbor for 2 days after we got it 2 months ago?

It should be fine, but I would just have the neighbor come over to feed it, give it water, and make sure it is ok. But if the cat doesnt seem comfortable with the neighbor, or isn't even totally adapted to your home. They stay with it. My family got a kitten, had it for two months and left for a week, but the kitten had a dog, two cats, and two birds, also, the neighbor stayed in my house for that week. So we knew it wouldn't feel lonely. And someone was always there to watch her. So do what ever makes the cat the feel safe. But over all, you should be fine. Good luck on trying to convince your parents. :)

it's fine if it's only a weekend. just make sure you have plenty of food and water for the cat. also have a clean litter box unless you want the cat to poop and pee everywhere.
