Why doesnt my 1990 ex500 start?
I got a bike a couple months ago. The guy we got it from said it would start fine but one day the starter stopped working. After we got in there we found out that the clutch sprocket broke in the center. We replaced the starter clutch and the sprocket and i cleaned the carburetors and i just put new gas in it today but it still wont start. I turn on the choke push the starter button and the rpms do different things at different times. Sometimes the rpms stay at zero sometimes they go up to 3 or go up and down but never go past 3 and sometimes they go to 1 and stay there but it never starts.

When i press the starter button the rpms jump around sometimes. I dont know why it does it but it does. I guess if its not suppose to move without being started then maybe it just wont stay running.

If it doesn't start, how do the RPMS do anything? Is that with the starter motor, or are you saying it won't stay running? Hit the additional info button on here, I don't want to email you.
BTW, now you've learned why to never trust a seller that says its just a dirty carb or bad starter.
Your additional details still don't make sense. The RPM's "jump around" while you're holding the start button down? It's supposed to do that, its an electric motor fighting differing levels of compression.
