Green cheek conure sleeping?
I recently got a baby green cheek. He is 4 months old. My questio is when willhe stop wanting to sleep and cuddle all the time? He begs to come out of his cage and as soo as he does he burrows into your clothes and goes to sleep. I have read that birds that sleep a lot may be sick but he is still a baby so maybe he needs the sleep. Also when will he be considered not a baby anymore? As for training what age is good to start at?

You can already start training him, I started training my GCC at a little under 3 months old and just the 3rd day I had him. I got him 3 weeks ago but he already knows how to fly to my finger when I tell him to, do target training and say "pretty bird" etc.
I think if you start training him he will definitely want to play more and stop immediately going to sleep, the reason he sleeps so much is because you're warm and really comfortable. I really wouldn't say he's a baby anymore, in the wild birds leave the nest and go out on their own after they're able to fully fly which is usually 1-2 months. GCC's also reach their full adult size at around 3 months old, they do get a bit fatter though.

Put him to bed earlier by covering his cage. (earlier than his normal time) take the towel or blanket off the cage later in the morning. Hopefully he will have a longer night sleep and won't need as much sleep during the day! Hope this helps!! (;

The best sleep a bird can get is if you let the room go dark with the Sunset and light with the Sunup so it can sleep all the dark hours as in Nature with no lights on and no disturbances. I think a dark closet with the door closed is a great idea.
