How to clean a new bellybutton ring?

I just bought a new piercing today and want to clean it before putting it in. I heard using alcohol could take away some color and I want to avoid that. How do I properly clean my new piercing? I would also like to clean the one I have in right now as well.

    With soap & water. Same way you clean your earrings, rings, but I have no idea what kind of bellybutton ring you have.
