What cat breed should I get?? need some advice?

I'm considering to get a cat, right now I have a pekingese dog. My dog is fine with cats and in general he is very calm and laid-back. I grew up always having a cat, but now i live on my own. I've been looking into different breeds but I'm really not sure which one would be suitable, or even if i should get a pedigree.

The cat would need to:

be kept indoors, although i want to train it to walk on a leash , i did that with my old cat,

and i want a cat that loves to cuddle.

Any recommendations? I've never owned a pedigree cat before, but not sure if a domestic cat will adapt well to live indoors.

You don't need a pedigree cat to keep it indoors! Any cat but one born in the wild will prefer to be kept clean, safe, and warm (or cool!) indoors. My suggestion would be to go to your local shelter, and have them suggest some cats that are going to be good with a well-mannered dog. Then you choose the one who's personality suits you the best. Look for an adult if you want a cuddly cat - it's hard to tell a kitten's future personality but adults will show you what they are really like. Most cats can be trained to leash and harness but unlike dogs, they walk *you* you do not walk them ;) Good luck finding your kitty.

Maine coon. They are known as gentle giants, and they are big(usually 20-25 lbs). I own one indoors and he is super sweet. He has been outside before but now he doesn't care so much as to go outside but he would if he had the chance..he has gotten out a couple times..but he is happy inside. He is also laid-back and is never mean. I have no idea what kind of cat would do well on a leash.

All cats, pedigreed or not will want to go out. I would go to one of the overburdened shelters that are now bursting with kittens and get one of those to take home! Go save a life, it will make you a better person! If you cuddle a kitten when he is small, he will want to cuddle when he is older. Kittens are

the best, no matter what breed, You will be happy, even if you don't spend $500!

A rare GREAT breed is sphynx. They come with different coats and act or like a kid or money..follow you around they try and make their owners happy. They always love to cuddle and they dont shed. My mom and I in total have 11 and i love them all! Watch top shelf meets feeds ch.4 shaw on youtube to find out more :)

Either a Birman, Ragdoll, Manx, Cymric, Himalayan, or Norwegian Forest Cat. these are good choices according to what you want. Or you could go to http://animal.discovery.com/breedselector/catselec...
