Notifications on Instagram?

I mentioned my friend in one of my recent picture descriptions. Do they get a notification when you tag their username? For example if I said: I had a great time at the park today with @123yolo. Will they get a notification saying I mentioned them? Also when I put their name it was blue. Thanks for the help!

Yeah, it will show up on their feed. The words are blue to show that it It's a link. Of you tap/click it, it will go to their profile.
