How to gain more Tumblr followers?

Question

I'm a little bit stuck on how to gain followers. I just really started using my blog two months ago, but since promo's don't really work for me (I reblogged stuff but it ain't working, yo) or any other type of alleged "follow me, I follow you"-scheme I'm clueless on how to achieve ludicrous numbers of followers like 23k+.

I mean, seriously, how do you do it? :/

maybe you could link to your posts on other social sites you are on like Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus, and pinterest, Probably not Yahoo Answer at least not without reviewing user agreement 

I am there so seldom that I forgot I had a tumblr account but I did read A Boy and His blog before the story ended or at least took a hiatus 

for that type of number all you have to do is first became as popular and liked as Felicia Day or Neil Gaiman

Use the right tags for your niche
Publish posts regularly.
Don't ask to be followed.
Get a good tumblr name, some unique, original
