Okay for one, does he know you are gay? If not, then he is straight, without a doubt.

If he knows you are gay, then it could go either way, but I would think he is straight.

Why do I say this? From what you've written, his actions are typical straight big-headed behavior. Sorry but I think you shouldnt get too hung up on this one, because YOU are the one hoping he could be "at least" bi.

If he knows you are gay then yes i see this as light flirting or it could just be him trying to get a reaction out of you.

if he doesnt then no i dont really see it as flirting. the compliments could just be a sign that this guy is very comfortable in his sexuality and sees nothing wrong with letting another guy know that he likes that shirt, etc. he also could just be bragging about his body when he shows you his muscles..and this is IF he is straight.

I would say to just start sending very subtle hints towards him to see if you can figure out what his sexuality is. It could also be a good idea to strike up conversations with people he knows and see if you can gather some information from them. I would never straight out ask them if he is gay or not but ya know there are plenty of ways to ask questions and gather info that would let you know what he is interested in.

its hard to gauge. On the one hand, he could be trying to impress you and he's bi. On the other hand, he could be straight but figures you're attracted to him and just enjoys the thrill of making you want him. Some people are that way. They flirt until you're interested and then back off because they only ever wanted your interest.

Knowing the difference... there's the tricky part.
