Really old slang question, what does this mean?
I have heard the term 'kicking the gong around' in a lot of music from the 1930s through the early 1950s. I have no idea what this means and I can't find it online... I'm guessing it has something to do with sex, or perhaps alcohol? Does anyone know what this means?

>It means to just "think about something" or "consider something." The gong is your brain. So its like saying, I am kicking an idea around (I am considering it).

It means smoking opium and was referred to in a song by Cab Calloway. 'Gong' was a word for an opium pipe, similar to 'bong' for a marijhuana pipe.
