Question about the gerand in english?

I live in Germany and go to school there too. The other day our english teacher wrote "She made him feeling bad," on the board. I, having lived in America for part of my life, politely told her that she cannot say it this way and it should be "She made him feel bad." Was I right when correcting her? And does anyone know the grammar rule that would apply here? Thanks

    Yes, you were absolutely right!

The verb "made" in this sentence is a "causative verb". A causative verb is a verb that "causes" someone to do something.

    Example:

I forced my sister to open the door.

She allowed the children to eat all the cake.

He ordered the secretary to type the letters.

But after "MAKE, LET and HAVE", we can ONLY use infinitive without TO. Compare the following sentences to the previous ones:

I made my sister open the door.

She let the children eat all the cake.

He had the secretary type the letters.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

Yes the way you said it was correct. Feeling is more of a personal description so it's wrong when describing a third person.

Ja, Sie haben recht! Your teacher was wrong. You can say:

she made him feel bad / she made him sing loudly / she made him speak correctly!! and so on

it is the same as saying " she caused him to ..... [ do something ]

she made him [+ infinitive], she asked him to [+ infinitive] , she caused him to [+ infinitive] - to make someone do something is the same as jemanden dazu bringen, etwas ZU TUN.

Tell your teacher: " He was feeling tired, because she made him run all the way home"

"He was throwing up [kotzen] because she made him eat too much"

    You were correct.

"After feel, hear, see and watch, we can use a noun or object pronoun as subject with a bare infinitive for a single or completed action and with a gerund for a repeated or continuous action."

Yes, you are right. Wish I knew the rules, but I don't. I'm just a native speaker. I understand what she meant, but it sounds awful.

    you're mostly right.

It should have been "She made him feel BADLY." badly is the adverb to the verb 'feel' Bad is an adjective that describes a noun.

she made him is not present tense, yet she used feeling which is present tense. If her English is bad, maybe she's teaching it badly.
