i am planning a trip to Mysore during february. can anybody help me with
Not to be missed Places of interest in and near Mysore
If i am starting from Mysore palace (Self driving) please suggest an itinery - of local places of interest in Mysore. 
please suggest some locally famous good and budget restaurants (veg and non veg) in Mysore
please suggest good shopping areas also

The KRS dam and the adjoining Brindavan Gardens are worth visiting.  It is famous all over for its colorfully lit dancing fountains that come alive once the sun sets. 
There are three lakes in Mysore that have become a haven for migratory birds and are set in lush green surroundings that are relaxing and worth visiting. 
The Mysore Zoo is the oldest Zoo in the country and was set up by Maharaja Chamaraja Wodeyar in 1892.
 Another famous monument of Mysore city is the Philomena Church that has a relic of the 3rd century St. Philomena preserved in a catacomb in below the main altar. The Church is also famous for its 175 feet high spires. 
These are some of the important sights to see in Mysore city.The tourist places near Mysore and places to visit around Mysore  are listed below. 
1)One can enjoy the zenith of Hoysalas architecture in the exquisite Chennakesava Temple in Somanathapur. 
2)One can see the bewildering verity of wildlife on the Bandipur National Park. 
3)The ancient pilgrimage centers of Nanjangud, Talakad and Srirangapatna Temples are not only pilgrim centers but also a tourist destinations.
