I think my one year old accidently ingested too much tylenol?

My daughter has an ear infection and about an hour ago, I gave her some tylenol like her doctor said to give her when she started getting feverish and fussy. I closed the lid and sat it on a table and took her to get a bath. A few minutes ago noticed she had the tylenol bottle and was sucking on it. Somehow she got the lid off( with her teeth maybe?) I'm not sure how much if any was ingested. It was a new bottle and she only had the one dose. The bottle is still pretty full...right above the top of the label. What should I do? Should I take her to the hospital or wait and see if she actually ingested any more?

This happened to us once. My wife was holding our baby in one hand and juggling the bottle with the other hand and accidentally poured Tylenol into her mouth.

Anyway, we freaked out and called poison control - and what they told us was not to worry, that there wasn't enough in the whole bottle to cause an issue and if it was just a case of pouring a bit more it would be ok (and it was).

Also - remember, the maximum dosage is for 24 hours, so unless you think she took in more than 4 complete doses, everything will be fine.

But you might want to reconsider Tylenol altogether. We don't have any tylenol products in our house because of all of the negative things you read about it - we've switched to Motrin.

If you have any doubt at all take her immediately to the hospital with the bottle. Quickly-time is of the essence as Tylenol is very toxic especially for a baby.

I'd take her to the hospital. Just to get that checked out. Or I would call Poison Control. I'm sure that you don't want to risk your young one's life and it's much too precious to be asking random people from online that aren't trained to deal with medical issues. I'd definitely get it checked out, it could cause a lot of issues for her organs and such.

Do what YOU think is best though and don't trust people like us to help.

Quickly count the amout of pills left and figure out how many if any she took. Subtract it from the amout that the bottle says it holds and what you gave the kid. If it's one or two you're fine, if more phone the poison control center.

You should just call the doctor or poison control and mind out how much she consumed. Also keep monitoring her for any thing strange.
