Democrats: If you were the President of the USA, what would you bring to America to make it a better place?

First, to comply with your requirement: I am a Democrat because I vote my self interest. The Democratic party is more supportive of public education, health care for all, women's rights, Social Security and Medicare and full employment.

So, if I were president I would do everything in my power to institute Universal Health Care, improved support of public education, employment security, regulation of banks and investment institutions, cutting the Pentagon budget by 50% and taxing millionaires and billionaires at the same rate as during the Eisenhower (R) administration, 91%. Closing corporate tax loopholes and bringing manufacturing jobs back to the USA.

Now I'm in no way qualified to be the prez, so most of the stuff I would like to do is probably infeasible, expensive, or too idealistic, but this is theoretical so I'm taking advantage of it. I'd cut military spending, probably about 20-25% of the budget as it is, and channel some of that into improving our country's infrastructure, with particular focus on building green and eco friendly stuff. And I'd like to increase the incentives for businesses to go green, and added money for eco friendly research, invest in green technology, and ultimately revert almost exclusively to green technology over oil/coal/nuclear power, though that would take decades to achieve. I'd like to attempt to reform education as well, with less emphasis on standardized testing because it's crap and doesn't help students learn at all, and allow teachers more freedom to decide what is important to put into their curriculums. And I'd like to improve foreign relations as well by butting out of stuff that isn't any of our business, strengthening ties with our allies, avoiding war and conflict as much as possible, and just trying to get people to hate us less overall. And I'd probably attempt to fix the whole Social Security/Medicare debacle and most likely fail spectacularly, but hey at least I'd have tried. I'd also increase corporate regulation, especially with the banking industry, and fix corporate tax loopholes. And reverse the Citizens United. Worst ruling to come out of the Supreme Court.

End tax loopholes in offshore accounts and capital gains and use the surplus to pay off our debts to other countries until we're AAA rated again

I would make all the people making 1 million or more pay 75% more taxes. I would make prostitution legal. I`m a Democrat because Obama sends me money every month. Republicans dont get Obama money.

Cut the military budget by at least 25% and put that towards streamlining the inefficiencies and imperfections of the education system. America needs a future, it starts with children, elementary, middle and high schools, as well as colleges. We're currently WAY behind in education compared to other countries.. If we want to compete with them in the future we have to start now.

I would raise the age you could join the military from 18 years old to 21 years old. If you are not old enough to drink alcohol, you are not old enough to make decisions regarding life and death.

I'm a Democrat because I'm not islamophobic or xenophobic or homophobic or racist.

The President is not the same as a dictator.
