where is the internet?

The better question is where ISN'T the internet....

It's in a box and kept on the top of Big Ben, for the best reception. It's guarded by the Elders of the Internet.

It's not in one place. It's in a virtual world of inter-connected computers all over the world. How do you reach it? You connect through an internet service provider. They connect you to another service providers used by other computers. Your ISP is your medium.

Internet is a road map. You can not go to it. It allows you to reach the destination you wish to go. IP addresses are like home addresses. If you know the address you know how to get there. Domains are made to make it easier to access the IP address. So instead of typing 173.194.33.49, you type www.google.com and you can get there.

there are users like me and you and billions of others --> we are connected TO EACH OTHER through internet service providers(Comcast,ATT,Verizon) --> Our internet service providers connect to each other ,so ATT users can communicate with Verizon users (this is done purely by cables) --> Our internet service providers are connected to European and Asian and African(e.t.c) service providers by CABLES THAT GO UNDERNEATH the ATLANTIC OCEAN(you heard it right,there are thousands of miles of cables under the ocean) ! --> Those European internet service providers connect European population to each other and eventually to Americans.

Internet is a bunch of computer(like mine and yours) that save websites inside.Our computers are connected with cables.That's the internet.
