How do I help my friend- all she eats or drinks is pepsi max?

There is no way that she can survive on that alone? Is there?

Can anyone help me out?

Update:

She has lost a lot of weight recently and im getting quite concerned now. I think she has a BMI of 12.5, so i'm really scared for her :(

Sounds like she is starving her self. Has she dropped weight recently? I'd express your worry and try to help her. Try to get her to talk to you about her eating. If she doesn't you have to go to a higher power.

No, she can't survive on that alone. Maybe she only drinks it in front of you, and she is actually a closet eater? Does she look like she has lost a lot of weight? Actually it's not good to drink so much soda. It's bad for her stomach. She sounds like she got an eating disorder and she needs to see a psychologist. To help her, you can try talking to her that you're worried about her health since you don't see her eating normal food and only drinking pepsi max all day. You know that it's not enough since the soda doesn't have any nutrient that can nourish her body. Anyway try to talk to her and see what she has to say. Realize though that it's her life, and while you want to help, it will only work if she wants your help. You might just have to let it go if she doesn't want it.

I am a trainer from california. This sweet drink thing. Give her this bit of science. This drink is going to make her totally fat. The phenomenon is called Sharpening your sugar teeth. The body does not know if the sugar is real or not. It only knows the sensation of sweet. The more she drinks, the sharper these teeth get. They will create incredibly strong cravings for sugar like an addiction. When the soda is gone, she will be reaching for sugar in any form. Tell her it will happen. It will. I am from california and cant tell you how many clients i had to completely pull off sugar for this reason. Good luck. Any more questions email me if you want. Baker7484. Gunner

I have a (ex)friend starving herself too... She thinks she's fat but she's pretty underweight. While I'm actually the one that has to go to a nutrienist because I'm overweight. ._. Anyway. There's not much to talk about... My friend didn't even tell me. I had to find out via a secret diary she wrote online... She wrote there, that she didn't talk about how she finds herself too fat and wants to lose weight because people would only disagree and call her thin. That was useless to her because, she wanted to lose weight, not get ridiculed! Maybe, what seemed useful to me, is not talk about losing or gaining weight, or being thin or being fat, but talk about being HEALTHY. This is also what my nutrienist told me: Not to eat less, but eat differently. I used to live on Monster Energy and Lays, but now I eat more natural foods and all, and whether you're fat, thin or on a good weight, this is always the best thing to do. Try to be positive on your friend. Don't criticize her habits. Maybe --

Just be there for her. For my friend, since I love to cook I offered to make her food every now and then. Then I'm there to watch her eat it too. I hope you two can figure this out!

Nobody can survive on that alone. My mom used to practically live on Coca-cola too, and now she has Diabetes, the take a dozen pills kind. Not pretty.

drinking Pepsi Max is like drinking water. as far as i know there are no side effects. it has no fat, about 1 calorie, a trace of salt, no sugar so its not even that bad for your teeth. as for eating it? well spose you could freeze it then eat it like an ice lolly. I'm no dietitian but i'm old enough to know it's not as bad as your parents probably tell you.

Quelle(n): the label. its not rocket science.

    Suggest options to her

She needs help if she is not eating

Counselling and medical advise may help

no, it has no nutrition and if this is really all she has, she will die of starvation.

all you can do is persuade her to get help, perhaps by telling her not to make her parents arrange her funeral. If she refuses, go to the parents.

I guess she needs to help herself rather that you helping her. All you can say is advice her and rest is in her hands
