Conservatives: Who in your immediate surroundings influenced your political views?

My two biggest influences are my father and my ex-boyfriend.

My father is a Vietnam veteran and former republican who became disgusted with the party during the Reagan era, now considers himself a conservative democrat. He hates the Clintons and is a big Obama supporter.

My ex-boyfriend was a huge fan of Rush Limbaugh and other right wing pundits. He is not a republican, but an anarchist. His idea is that things have to get as bad as it can possibly be before things can get better. He wants to see America, really all civilization, destroyed so we can start over from scratch. He believes supporting extreme right wing politics is the surest way to make that happen.

guess nobody influenced my political views but me and my own opinions. last time i checked, you were allowed to have your own opinion in this country

Certainly not my teachers... well except for my history teacher.

My mom. She's a highly intelligent woman, and always knows what she's talking about. I look to her for advice all the time.

I do enjoy Hannity, O'Reilly, and Beck, but my political influence mostly comes from fact checking.

A lot of it comes from common sense too.

My friends were highly influenced by the teachers to be liberal, and didn't really know any better to ask why.

None of the above. Conservatism,particularly fiscal conservatism,comes from life experience. That's why most liberals are of school age. They have no experience to draw on.

I listened to news networks as a kid and didn't agree with many of their opinions. Also, my parents taught me to question things my "teachers" (aka reeducators) told me. I soon discovered Charlie Sykes, a local talk radio host, which led to rush and savage.

My parents. However, what they taught me was the TRUTH. They never lied to me. That is why I am a Republican.
