The challenges of a steadily aging society in Germany

Germany is a social state and in an ideal case the state cares for its citizens up to an old age. But tough times are approaching: In 2022 already there will be as many 70 years old as 30 years old people. The demographic change in Europe - also known as greying Europe – will cause many problems and challenges for the society.

One of the main problem will be the provisions of the pensioners. Fewer workers have to pay much more for the pension of the huge number of old people. A temporary solution will may be rised pension insurance contributions combined with increase of the retirement age from. But this can not be the definite answer to the problem, because too high contributions going to lead to a lowering of the national product.

The other big issue the politics have to deal with is the problems with the health care system. The higher life expectancy effected by the progress in research and medical science will stress the health system: Even if people now live longer and healthier, they still will need in their last few years care and support. More and more persons will require expensive support and medicine. Extensive health reforms would be more than important.

Finally, we can hardly avoid the change, but we can learn to deal with it. The ageing of the society should neither affect on the basic concept of the welfare nor should let us forget our humanity.

The challenges of a steadily AGEING society in Germany.

Germany is a social state and, in an ideal SITUATION, the state WOULD CARE for its citizens UP TO AND INTO old age. But tough times are approaching AND IT IS PROJECTED THAT IN 2022 there will be as many 70 years old as 30 years old people *(Reference for this is needed)*. The demographic CHANGES in Europe, known as greying Europe, will cause many problems and challenges for GERMAN AND EUROPEAN society.

One of the main problem will be the provision FOR pensioners. Fewer workers WILL have to pay much more for the PENSIONS AND UPKEEP of the INCREASING number of OLDER people. A temporary solution COULD be RAISED pension insurance contributions combined with AN increase of the retirement age from ?? TO ??. THIS HOWEVER, cannot be the DEFINITIVE answer to the problem because OVERLY high contributions WILL lead to a lowering of national PRODUCTION.

The other big issue THAT POLITICIANS have to deal with is the problems with the health care system. The higher life expectancy AFFECTED by the progress in research and medical science, will STRETCH AND CAUSE stress TO the health CARE system AND WITH people ALREADY LIVING longer and MORE HEALTHY LIFESTYLES, they will STILL need CARE and support in their last few years. More and more PEOPLE will require expensive support and medicine SO extensive health reforms WILL be more than important.

Finally, we can hardly avoid the change but we can learn to deal with it. The ageing of the society should neither affect the basic concept of welfare nor let us forget our humanity.

    *Hope this helps.

Germany is a social state and in an ideal case the state cares for its citizens until they reach old age. But tough times are approaching: In 2022 there will already be as many 70 year olds as 30 year old people. The demographic change in Europe - also known as greying Europe – will cause many problems and challenges for the society.

One of the main problems will be the provisions of the pensioners. Fewer workers have to pay much more for the pension of the huge number of old people. A temporary solution could be rised pension insurance contributions combined with increase of the retirement age. But this cannot be the definite answer to the problem, because contributions that are too high will lead to a lowering of the national product.

The other big issues the politics (*I don't know what you mean with this word*) have to deal with are the problems with the health care system. The higher life expectancy effected by the progress in research and medical science will stress the health system: Even if people now live longer and healthier, they will still need care and support in their last few years. More and more people will require expensive support and medicine. Extensive health reforms would be more than important.

Finally, we can hardly avoid the change, but we can learn to deal with it. The aging of the society should neither *affect on the basic concept of the welfare* (*not sure what you're saying here either*) nor should let us forget our humanity.
