Friend backs out when I was planning her birthday?

I have this friend, we were neighbors and became close. Anyways, she wanted to throw herself a birthday party. I told her how about I help host the party; she agreed. We have talked about this for a month. I now live 30 minutes from her because I moved recently. However, the birthday plans were still going on. Here is the thing though. I have epilepsy, and a suspended license due to my epilepsy. She knows all this. I buy all these gifts for her, and I was also getting her a cake.

Two days before her birthday celebration, she tells me in a text; that she cannot pick me up to celebrate her birthday. I thought telling me in a text was so hurtful and rude. She really had no good explanation in the text. I felt like a fool for buying all this stuff for her. When she was the one wanting me to help plan her party.
