I had my wisdom tooth extracted a couple of days back. The swelling refuses to subside. help!?
There has been bearable pain since the anesthetic wore off. I've tried icing and when that didn't work, warm massage. Nothing has helped in culling the swelling.

Hi! Well, I got mine out this past Monday. I had the same problem as you. I took Ibuprofen since it's an anti-inflammatory medication, but that barely helped at all. The swelling peaked on the third day and man did I look like a cabbage patch kid. I iced it as much as I could during the first few days as well, but there wasn't any immediate change. The swelling did go down on Friday, 4 days after the extraction; it's still going down. So, try taking Ibuprofen along with whatever pain meds/antibiotics you're on. While resting, sit upright and ice your cheeks. 20 mins on/off, all that stuff. When you sleep, also sleep in a sort of upright position. I slept in a recliner, but you can prop your head up with 2-3 pillows. I hope this kind of helped...I know I didn't have an exact answer, but this is what I've done since I had mine taken out.

You should call your dentist. You could have a DRY SOCKET and it can get real painful. It probably should be looked at.
Quelle(n): My husband had this and he needed anti biotic.
