church in pillars of the earth - mini-series?

i was wondering where the actualy church that we can see in the mini-series is based. surely its not in 'shiring' ...but at the end of the series they show a shot from above which looks pretty modern. does anyone know ?

It is a fictional Cathedral based on Salisbury Cathedral as is shown in the final shot.
