Been playing guitar hero for so long now i want to try it for real?
I'm in love with guitar hero and can beat through the fire and the flames on hard. My question is, is electric guitar harder than guitar hero? and is it similar? I mean, i am totally willing to fork up the 300$ to get a starter electric and amp if it will be fun and teach me a new skill... Also, what should my price range be for buying things at a start? what should i buy? haha sry, total newb who wants to 'shred'

Yes. It's completely different. I used to be able to get 95% on Through The Fire and Flames on expert. i eventually got sick of guitar hero because i was too good and it just got really boring. I stopped playing and bought an Ibanez electric at Christmas 2010. Still don't know how to use it to this day and i hate myself. I wish i was good at guitar.
And buy anything 200 or under. There will be plenty of good choices. Mine is a really nice one. It's the Ibanez RG120. Look it up. Got mine for about 180 new. Not bad guitar at all.

GH and RB have probably turned millions of kids onto playing real guitar that would have never even considered it other wise and thumbs up to those games for doing so. But the only thing it really does as far as preparing you to play real guitar is getting your left fingers to start working independently. The pinky is especially hard to work with when you're new to guitar but the games do help with this. Maybe if Eric Clapton had these games growing up he would be able to use his pinky when he solos ( : But seriously, real guitar will be way more difficult, but if you really want to do it just put in the work and you'll be fine. As far as what to get on that budget. Maybe a $200 Ibanez, Squier or Epiphone and a $100 amp. Something like a Roland Cube is a good option.

Haha I've played guitar hero for years with 5* all gh3 2 and 1... I've played guitar before guitar hero a few years ago and it is a lot different. But I felt the more I played guitar hero my fingers got faster. Try rockband 3 with the pro guitar. I think you would love that better. I haven't tried it but look it up on YouTube. It teaches you real guitar on a game. But like I said it is a lot different but its very cool once you know how to play and very entertaining.

Playing guitar is much harder and takes years of hard work and dedication. I wouldn't spend much if you're a beginner, you can find starter guitars that come with small amps for around $100. I play a jackson king v and I use marshall amps. I wouldn't really reccomend them to a beginner.

guitar hero is nothing like Electric guitar (or acoustic). its waay harder and makes your fingers hurt and get hard and crusty. but its a better talent to have. and its fun to learn. uhh any nice good brand guitar would work. a strap that goes on your shoulder that holds the guitar helps too. and lots and lots of picks too.
