Eligble for student loan after pre-med course?

I am planning to study medecine in 2013. I will will probably do a pre-medical studies year beforehand. My question is if I will still be eligible for a student loan? Or will studying medicine count as my 2nd degree?

    I see no logical reason why you shouldn't get one loan to cover both courses if you apply in advance.
