Bye Bye Hawthorn Hawks?

With the hawks losing to the cats & Buddy Franklin getting injured it looks like the hawks are headed out of the finals in straight sets surely either the saints or swans should beat the hawks without Buddy & Roughead .So are the hawks going to be the first team since the eagles in 2007 to go out in the final in straight sets i think so have your say

It would obviously be a very ' buddy ' disappointing and distressing time for the club, players, and all supporters alike. With the loss this season of Stratton knee,Roughead, achillies, still finish top 4,then now as it seems, the Buddy season over injury during finals, would be heartbreaking for the entire club. Breaking some meaningless 5yo record would be the least of the Hawks problems.

I tell you, if the Cats were playing Hawthorn next week I'd still be nervous. They may well do to become a little less Buddy centric and they have plenty of little guys who can do the running. I imagine they'll move Hale up forward and play front and centre footy off him all night. That could still be dangerous.

I'd be sad for Hawthorn ... but I'm not - I like Jeff Kennett a little less than I like Eddie!

And like Deedubya says - a five year record is hardly worth mentioning (and didn't the Kangaroos also do that in 2007?)

I think that one of the most needed questions that has to be asked of Hawthorn. is why did they rest so many of their top line players. the week before the finals in the game against Gold Coast?

You just have to wonder what was the underlying theory behind this unbelievable move by the club?

As it has turned out. not a very good move at all!

I wouldn't say its game set & match for the Hawks just yet. but considering the facts that they were so one dimensional going forward in tonight's game. you would have very good evidence to back up your question. that it maybe goodnight nurse for the Hawks for season 2011. no matter who they play next week

    cheers

I will go with the general concenus and say, they can't win the pennant this year, but i'm not too sure they're completely down-and-out ? I actually think they can bounce back next week and win . I don't want to keep harping on about this, but you people are forgeting how " awesome " the Geelong Cats have been the past forthnight ! ( I'm starting to waver on my earlier Collingwood prediction )

Yep knew they would never beat Geelong and progress, others seemed to be so confident. Even if they magically gain buddy they wont be able to take down either West Coast or Collingwood to get into the GF, they are gone, already written off :D

Bad timing, everything stacked against them...yes they will go out.

But the big picture is more important at this point. A torn PCL, possible fracture....could be career threatening at this point in time. That's the realiy and that overshadows any finals thoughts, which is less important right now.

They're not out yet. I think they will win the next match :)
