Cat-safe, effective ways to get rid of ants?

Question

I've been mixing baking soda and powdered sugar and leaving it out (the ants are supposed to eat the baking soda by mistake and explode).  Is the baking soda safe for my cat? Are there any other ways to get rid of ants?

Avoid powdered chalk around cats as it is toxic to them,it can cause kidney problems,baking soda is fine to use,but Vaseline petroleum jelly works as if you place a line across the floor ants wont cross it they cannot go on greasy areas,

so you could try the petroleum jelly to stop them spreading and the baking soda to kill them off,hope this helps you.

Putting powdered chalk around the outside of the doors helps too.

Baking soda is safe around cats.  Borax would not be, but the baking soda is.

do away with the ants with a mixture of dish cleansing soap & water.It would not take lots.Use a million/4 cup cleansing soap to a million/2 cup water. Wipe up lifeless ants and cleansing soap then wipe section down with white vinegar daily for each week till ants are long gone for good. bugs additionally evade white vinegar;and it won't harm pets.
