What should i do with my computer?

Ok, i have a windows 7 64 bit laptop and recently i started getting angry with my program files because i have 2 program files and program files x86 so i decided it would be a good idea to put the two together so i would just have one programs files but after doing so my computer just totally messed up, i have to reinstall everything, my icons on the notification pane are all different, when i click on something in explorer it opens another window and my folder options are set not to and a whole lot of other stuff wrong now, i was just wandering if any body knew how to fix this or reset my C:\ drive, i dont even care if it deletes everything but i still need my computer to work right, and i dont have a system backup and i might need help using system restore or recovery

Update:

Is there a way to reset the C:\ drive to factory settings like formatting it or something

Update 2:

Ya i knew why it has two i just wanted one

you can try using system restore. however i believe system restore will only change files not directly changed by a user.

go to START / ALL PROGRAMS / ACCESSORIES / SYSTEM TOOLS / SYSTEM RESTORE

try a restore point of 1 week ago.

If that doesn't work you will need to do a factory restore.

The reason your system had 2 Program file folders a programs and x86Programs, even tho you have a 64 bit windows Operating system there are many programs not designed to work with 64bit operating systems. they will cause conflicts in the system thus creating problems in using your computer. So software designers created programs which will work in the environment (kind of).

they created special paths for these programs, bypassing 64bit protocols, and allowing them to work properly.

If the system restore doesn't work, do the factory restore.

Depending on the type of computer you have you maybe able to start a factory restore by pressing the F8 or F12 key during boot up.

You don't say what computer you have but most computers have a factory restore partition hidden on the HDD.

To get to this, when you switch on your computer and while it is booting slowly press the F8 key up and down until you are offered a menu called 'Advanced Boot Options'

If this does not work and windows loads normally switch off and try again.

Repair Your Computer should be highlighted, if not use up/down arrow keys to highlight.

    Press ENTER

Wait until Keyboard option is offered, use mouse to select keyboard, left click NEXT.

Select User Name your usual log on left click OK.

You will be offered a selection of recovery tools. One of these should be Factory Restore.

Some manufactures offer there own recovery option eg. Acer is listed as 'RECOVERY MANAGEMENT',select this option and Factory restore will be found here.

    Follow option offered.

This will return your computer to how you took it out of the box.

Remember to save any important data you have on your C: drive before doing factory restore.

Hope this helps good luck .. Oh yes nearly forgot LEAVE your System Files and folders you have not created yourself alone until you have gained more experience.

You should never ever mess up with those system files unless u r an expert.Contact windows help.

You can try to get the windows repair disk-64bit from any other user and try restoring ur computer to a god wrkng stage. You can also press F8 key while the comp starts and try to start the system in safe mode and then restore(if u don't have a recovery disk).

You have totally screwed your program files.

They were kept in 2 folders for a reason.

You cannot just move or merge programs.

They have to be removed & reinstalled.

Without a backup, you may also lose your data files.

Get some expert help before digging in further.

Go to start - programs - accesories - system tools - restore and select an earlier restore point. One just before your mishap.

On a Mac, shift/administration/3 takes a image of the demonstrate. in case you press shift/administration/4, you may click and drag over the section you want; the image is taken once you launch the mouse button.
