Could you please help? Have I translated correctely the following sentences?

Hello everybody,

Here the sentences, are they correct?

- "There aren’t very many museums in this region."
I wouldn't say "very many" , but, does this expression exist?

- "It was two years since we had been on a cruise."

- "They outperformed their rivals by 50%." 
Is "by" the correct preposition?

- "...sense of superiority over Italians"

The first sentence is correct, and the expression "very many" does exist.

The second sentence is possible to understand, but I think it would be more grammatically correct if you changed it to say "Two years had passed since we had last been on a cruise."

The third sentence is correct, "by" is the correct preposition

The fourth phrase is correct.

1) Yes. "very many" is an often used expression.
"Aren't very many" also means "few"

2) Tough to say for sure, without other sentences around it (context) but it should probably be more like:
"It had been two years since we had been on a cruise"
"We hadn't been on a cruise in two years"
"It's been two years since we went on a cruise."
(Also, when "had" follows "we", "I", "they", or "you"... it is common to shorten it to 'd (For example: ...since we'd been on a cruise)

3) Yes. "by" is the correct preposition in that sentence.

4) Again, not a lot there but it looks good.

I wouldn't say 'very many' just saying 'many' is fine as they mean the same thing. 

It had been two years since we were on a cruise
