UK Law - Is there an act which deals with seniority discrimination in the workplace?
I was certain a recent law was passed (but might have dreamt it?) which stops seniority discrimination in the workplace. For example, someone who is new to a role getting paid less and having lesser terms and conditions attached when doing an identical job to a colleague who has been in the role for a long (or longer) time.
I would be very grateful for clarification on this.
OK some more details. The job that has raised this question is bus driving. So again as an example, a new driver on the same roster as someone who has been doing the job for say 20 years. Would it be legal for the new guy to be paid less and say have to work more hours for it. I am not talking about any probationary period or special training rates.

Think you have been dreaming. Any place I worked in, the longer someone was there the more they earned. If you complained about it you will be told there is plenty of unemployed people who would jump at the chance to have you job. Good Luck
