What has caused the increase in homosexuality?

Most of it isn't an increase in gays and lesbians, just mostly an increase in people coming out of the closet. The United States have become more gay friendly then every before and it is becoming easier for the LGBT community to come out of their closets. That causes most of the increase. The other probable involves the bi teenage girls. In the teenage girl community it is become more trendy to like girls. So you might have more trendy bi girls then real gay girls. However, that probably isn't the highest cause for the increase. Like I said before most of the increase comes the increased society acceptance of the LGBT community.

Nothing has caused an increase in homosexuality as there prolly really hasn't been an increase it's just that in today's world people are more accepting of gays, lesbians and bisexuals and so there are alot more people willing to come out, :)

The general consensus is the percentage of gays/lesbians in society has stayed constant at 11%. I think what makes it seem like more people are gay isn't an increase in numbers but a more openess about a person's sexuality.

Because people are easily led and if something is trendy are more likely to do it. For 5 % it's not a choice, it's a genetic abnormality ( as in not normal for a homo sapien) the rest it's a choice, easily influenced by peers and the media, where is the darling at the moment.

It's not that there's an increase, it's that the society is more accepting [obviously not totally accepting] but still, it creates a better environment.

There are the same amount of gays as their have always been, just more are now out of the closet.

Why would gays have died out by now?

I don't know if the actual number of gays and lesbians has increased, and I don't know why you used the colorful description of them running around...

I think there's just as many gays as their were in the 70s as their are now...I think that we are just as aware now as we were back then back in the 70s .

It might be genetic, it might not. We're not sure yet, but at the moment it seems that you're born with your sexual orientation.

Anyway, it's not as if there weren't gays before. It's simply more acceptable now and more are able to 'come out of the closet', so to speak. We're just acknowledging them more now

What the hell are you talking about? We're not a damn science experiment, we're people. In recent years there have been more people come out of the closet. In the past homosexuality wasn't accepted at all, now it's accepted in society. But homosexuality is nothing new.

Rarely do gays have gay parents, we all come from straight people. And there isn't more than there used to be, there is MORE acceptance than there was years ago, so more of us are feeling comfortable coming out.
