something that says art doesn't matter?

I'm writing a paper about how Art is necessary to the curriculum for students in middle and high school. BUT, I need a counter argument. Does anyone know of a book, website, article where I can find something that says Art doesn't matter and is actually not necessary to the curriculum. Something that says math and english are more important then teaching the arts to students maybe?

    politicians often say this and try to get fewer art subjects on the curriculum it happened in britain in the 8o's during the economic downturn so everyone was advised to try to become a maths teacher and there were no jobs for them either look up for your area
