Why do liberals support an illegal war in Libya but not the Iraq war?

You are making an assumption by saying liberals support the Libya war. Also, the supposedly democratically elected government of Iraq did not exist when America (and others) invaded under the false pretext of weapons of mass destruction.

The United Nations took two votes on invading Iraq. In both votes, the majority voted against an invasion. Therefore the USA and its coalition illegally invaded Iraq.

The United Nations took one vote on assisting the Libyan rebels overthrowing their current dictator. The majority voted in favor. Therefore, the military assistance is legal.

Iraq wouldn't sign onto the oil leasing agreement the US wanted unless the US set a timeline to leave. That's how much they want us in their country. No liberals support our participation in Libya. We want our tax dollars applied to the needs of the US and its people not spent on bombs that kill Libyan civilians we have no gripe against.
