I have 550 dollars should i buy an ipad or a laptop?

go with a laptop. ipads are a waste of money if you could buy a laptop (i just purchased an asus from best buy for ~$420). sure, you can surf the web on an ipad, but you can't do many things such as play any kind of game aside from apps that are really only fun for a couple hours max. plus, ipads are just a hassle. you can't easily prop the screen up, you always have to hold it. sure, the touchscreen is cool, but it's only cool, not very practical when it comes to working or whatnot.

Laptop

Get both if you know how to bid on penny auctions. you can pick up an ipad for $12 bucks brand new. it takes about 2 hours of bidding. I paid $6 for an ipad two days ago. check them out free to sign up!. its fun as well. I am just saving you time and money. you have 550 put 50 bidds in an you willl have ipad an have money to spare. I have been doing penny auctions for a long time. trust me. on 50 bids it might cost 30 or 40 bucks to get the ipad spread out your bids. if you have a friend even better two people bidding in one location works even better. 80 bids will get you both. the best time to place bids is 5 or 6 pm less bidders.

LAPTOP!! You can do more with a laptop and not be restricted on what sort of products you can and can't use for the iPad. There's more you can do with a laptop than iPad, I'm sure of this.

You choose iPad if you want to look hip and laptop if you're going to use it for business, office works or school works.

Laptop can do multitask while you will have difficulty performing it on an iPad.

i would get a laptop, its portable just like the ipad, but unlike the ipad if something were to happen to the laptop there are lots of places where you could get it fixed but if anything were to happen to an ipad the only place you can probably get it fixed is pretty much sending it to apple

It depends, iPad is nice but doesn't support flash and can't download, but it is very very cool, laptops can do so much more but are not as mobile, it really comes down to what you plan on using it for, if you tell us we will be able to give a better answer! Good luck.

what kind of laptop? and i'd go with a laptop cuz you cand o more with it like download things etc, but if you don't plan on doing that and you have another computer that u use for that kind of thing currently i'd get an ipad :)

iPad is just like a blown up version of the iPod, EXCEPT ITS HARD TO TAKE EVERYWHERE. So i would pick the Laptop (; haha
