When/who first came up with the idea of having *chocolate eggs* at Easter in addition to the traditional eggs?

He or she deserves a Nobel Prize! But I am really curious to know when this started. (I already know all about why there is an egg tradition for Easter, and earlier Spring Equinox holidays.)

I want to know about the Chocolate!

Chocolate Easter eggs date back to Germany and France in the early 1800's. There was a tradition of giving solid chocolate eggs as gifts. The first chocolate eggs were not the sweet milk chocolate that many people know today; they were small and made with a very bitter dark chocolate.

I do think of it replace into around victorian england the place the chocolate easter eggs became admired, yet do no longer understand for confident. It replace into around the business age interior the U.
