Y praytell, is it a bad thing 2 chill Guinness Stout prior 2 serving it?

Update:

Personally I couldn't be bothered less by the opinions "they" have; And some time try having @ least 1 shot of espresso in a Guinness. Simply marvelous in my opinion!

The colder it is, the less the aroma. Most people like their stout at cellar temperatures, rather than refrigerated. If you like it icy, drink it icy. Just don't serve it to me that way, please.

"Over there," they drink things warm. Beer, whiskey, everything. Ice cubes are satanic. They may add just a splash of water to scotch to "release the flavors."

And they do have a point. Your favorite beverages do taste different depending on the temp at which they're served. In the case of Guinness, you're probably getting the better idea of what the brewer was trying to achieve if you sip it warmer than you're used to.

Here's the counter-point: "They" aren't buying it and drinking it, you are. Get happy.

My guilty pleasure, by the way, is to freeze Guinness until it takes on a slushy consistency. (Careful you don't blow up the bottle when you do that. The perfectly prepared Guinness is liquid in the bottle and slushy at the neck.) Proper folks may think I'm a barbarian, but it makes me a very happy and mellow barbarienne.

As it's a stout it's supposed to be served at room temperature
