1984 by George Orwell?
Some novels and plays seem to advocate changes in social or political attitudes or in traditions. Choose a novel or play and note briefly the particular attitudes or traditions that the author apparently wishes to modify. Then analyze the techniques the author uses to influence the reader's or audience's views.
Help?
(I have read the book.)

I'll give you a hint: make sure you read it thoroughly and then think about how Orwell uses newspeak to show how language can control society.
How does language control society and people's views/attitudes in the book?
What purpose does this serve?
What stance do you think Orwell takes on this?
Quelle(n): I'm not sure what level you're at with this, but I studied it in a literature and politics unit at undergraduate level, and I found Lev Vygotsky's notions of language acquisition particularly helpful. - micheleLv 7vor 1 Jahrzehnt
Take it one step at a time.
First, read the book.
Next, consider what the author is trying to communicate, as far as his sociopolitical stance. Is it the same or different (and in what ways) from the society in which we live. How does Orwell use literary technique to drive his points home to the reader?
Good luck,

i think of the reason human beings have been so desirous to renounce their rights, distinctly to privateness, is they have been doped into being afraid. Bush administration ran a terror marketing campaign interior the months and years after 9/11 that confident many individuals that they are going to consistently be in possibility if the government would not have greater means. that's a slippery slope to loosing greater freedom and a slope that I refuse to bypass down. however, many different are no longer besides versed in what the government is somewhat doing, so as that they are going to stick to blindly into specific doom. This all could nicely be blamed on the stupidity of the yankee public. by technique of ways, stable first paragraph. i think of you captured each little thing somewhat nicely.
