I think Phantom of the Opera has gaping plot holes, and the show really strongly lends itself to the casting of opera singers with less-than-adequate acting abilities or actors who can't handle the music, neither of which makes for a good show, in my opinion.

Across the Universe and Moulin Rouge aren't stage musicals and, well, I don't enjoy jukebox musicals - the songs weren't written with the intention of revealing something about characters and moving along a plot, and so they don't do that very well.
